Ok, I decided I want to learn how to import custom sounds now... I got some cool .wav files to use to import. And so far I know that I have to import ADPCM type wav files, and I heard i need GoldWave or something to do it. I have the registered version of goldwave, but I was wondering if there is a plugin I need for it to open the ADPCM files or something. It wont open wav files from halo....

I'm sure this has been talked about before, and I've tryed looking around on old posts but couldn't find much.

So i'd appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to Import my custom sounds into Halo.

Thanks.
:)

Ok well i tryed that program out, but it doesnt work. I converted the wav file to Microsoft ADPCM type but it still doesnt import right. I could do the same thing with "Sound Recorder" in your start menu accesories folder but it doesnt work.

thanks though

Make sure all the audio quality settings for the new file match those of the file you're trying to replace. I'm not sure if the length has to match as well but I don't think so. And when you import the sound file with HMT, press the little "EOF" button before importing. This will add the new data to the end of the sound.map file. Mono said it's better to do it that way.

Yeah we pretty much got it all figured out, the only problem i'm having now is that it still plays the old sound, and after a couple shots it plays the sound I imported. I wan't it to just play the sound i imported. What is the EOF button your talking about? I dont see it.

The only thing I can think of that I know whould work is to map rebuild the sounds back in..... but I really don't want to have to do that. There's got to be an easier way.

Wait, I got the impression from the your messages that you had gotten it to work. What is your problem now?

Ok, our first problem was getting the sound to import into HMT3 without any errors. We got that to work.

The problem now, is that when I do import the sound into hmt3 like for example My Wav: "PistolShoot1" and over write the "pistol/fire" wav then it works, but when I load up the game and start shooting the pistol it still plays the old pistol sounds a couple times then plays mine (this is while im shooting) and plays the old ones again. It's like using both of them but I don't know why.
