Hey i'm kind of new, but i was wondering if anyone was working on a patch to play cooperative mode. I know its hard to do over the Internet, but maybe it would work over a LAN.

PPF patches only alter maps or weapons and the such. They can't exactly edit the actual game, E.G. make a realism mod for Halo, atleast not yet.
I've been trying to make it to where you can play CO-OP by activating the console(type -console at the end of the target line in the properties of your Halo SHORTCUT), and typing in "sv_map <singleplayer map here>", but I've run into a brick wall because it also needs something called a variant name, or game variant... anyone know what this is(no, it's not for PPFs, because Microsoft didn't program a modding command, to the geniuses who think so)?
So it basically goes:
sv_map <map> <variantname>
If I type in no variant name, nothing happens. If I type in some random crap, it says "wrong variant name" or something like that.

dont worry, you dont need to ask who.. but co-op is being worked on.. but there is nothing even close to a garuntee.. just the fact that it is being worked on

SirLuke, sv_map is a command intended to start a multiplayer game, so variantname indicates the game type to be played.
So sv_map bloodgulch king will start a king of the hill game on blood gulch with your computer being the server (not sure though if it is online or LAN server).
As far as I can tell, it won't load a single player map even if you have a valid variantname. Either campaign missions have their own variant or single player map names like a30 are rejected.

not knowing what "search" was, i posted another topic.
anyway, heres part of it, and its very true.
In the meanwhile, I will email Microsoft and Bungie and bug the hell out of them for a big patch that allows co-op play.
they'll probably flame me, but w/e

Yes, there is a flaw (or a protection?) in Halo's netcode that does not allow for AI components to do the same thing on different computers. As to the research I have seen, no one has figured out how to get around this, but it is not impossible to get the reactions the same on all computers.

well i meant patch, not mod. a mod for a game like halo only changes skins and weapons. the only way as i see it is an official patch from the developers that let you play it. neways, in the meanwhile we can keep hoping...

Not impossible just improbable
this thing would be hott if they figured it out. they would prolly just have to script the actions of the bots, but after you play it alot you'd figure it out.
Or make one computer the "host" computer and it tells all the players on the server where the AI goes when the players encounter them... Idk really, sounded better in my head

That would make MAJOR LAG. Because not only does everything have to load off the server. But then the AI movements would also have to.

you cant play on singleplayer levels on multi because there are triggers on the level, multi code does not support it. conversions have already been made

Uh, this will have a couple of blanks to fill in but,
we would have to come up with a way to get bots into mp(i don't know if you can already do this, but it's a must)
then we could take that AI, mess around with it a little, get the singly player maps to go into multi, then take the bots you would add when everyone is ready that fill the server up to its max player quotient...then randomize the bot models so you get elites, grunts and all them in a random order, then just let all hell break loose...
like it? just an idea, fill in the blanks if you can
