I never realized it was this simple...
An issue that Lebow and I have been having--one of the only two still impeding the release of "Night Death Island"--has been solved. And it was as simple as injecting the two swamp water shaders from C10 (343 GS) into DI with a rebuild. Now the too-bright water destroying the feel of the night map is no longer a problem.
I took some screenshots of the new water in a couple of configurations, but it saddened me to find out that my favorite quick-upload site (junk.paulm.com) had its bandwidth overloaded by some halo modder distributing a FULL MOD (something I have never done). So can anyone recommend a good free site that allows direct linking to hosted images? I'd really love to show you guys what this looks like.

Great, good stuff. I have the two screenshots posted here for you to check out.
Should I also post a RAR of the dark water map for you guys to play with?

Ah crap, well I just had a problem today with my main computer and I won't have access to the map for several days.
In the meantime, here's a detailed tutorial for how to create the dark water...
-Open map "c10" in HMT3.
-Scroll down to the tag section, "Shader Water".
-Highlight the first of the two tags in that section and recursive save the meta.
-Rebuild Death Island with the saved meta files added.
-Open the rebuilt DI map in HMT.
-Scroll to the "Shader Water" section, you should now see three tags, including the one from c10.
-Copy the meta value from the swamp water tag into both the other water shader tags in that section, save the tags after pasting.
-Play the new DI map in Halo and marvel at the dark, murky water.
