first, backup your maps:
go to C:>program files>Microsoft games>Halo>maps
and copy everything in that folder, then make a new folder on your desktop called "backup" and paste into it
NOW, we take the map we downloaded, put it in Halo's maps folder (C:>program files>Microsoft games>Halo>maps) and over-write the old file with the new one.
now, if you've done everything right, you should be able to start up halo and play on that map with the mod taking effect

like, the model has been changed? if the model was changed, it whould be ok just using the .map file, but if they gave it a new skin, you will also need a bitmap.map file (they're big, so ask for a ppf)

Yes, what sammy said. Just make a new folder called "Backups" and put a copy of the original map in there.
