HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

I'm new to modding and just started downloding some. Any pros with any good info and where can i get some of the modding tools like paint shop pro and milkshape, or is it shade. I was also wondering if there was a specific folder I had to put skins, vehicle, weapon mods, etc. in. And if you have AIM my sn is jman5179. Also I'm having some problems with a 3rd person mod. Please help! I'm working with Halo PC.

Okay. Two of the best programs for modding maps would be

Halo Map Tools version 3.5 (HMTv3.5)
Halo Hacker Tools (HHT)

HMTv3.5 will do almost anything you want including extract bitmaps, models, data and then inject bitmaps, models, data.

HHT is very good with dependency swapping. Meaning that you can make pelicans drivable (much easier in that) and make MC an Elite (much easier than HMTv3.5 can)

For modeling, You will want Milkshape3D. An excellent modeling program (ha ha ha, for HaloPC at least) which you will have to use to model items for HaloPC. The trick is, you cannot build a custom model, you have to extract (using HMTv3.5) the model of what you want to alter, then import it into Milkshape (as a Wavefront OBJ file) and alter it's shape. You cannot delete things nor add things to it...only move things around. After you would export it to HMTv3.5 (as a Wavefront OBJ file) and re-inject over the original weapon you set out to change.

For skinning. I suggest Photoshop. Great program where you can import .dds files (which the bitmaps come in....although you need the plugin ---located in the files forum under utilities---) and then alter it to your liking. After that you would export it as a .dds file and then re-inject back into the game. The best program for injects and extracting is HMTv3.5

You gotta buy it if you want the legal version just go to best buy or fry's they should have it photoshop elments is like $60 but (Cough Most People Here Download the illegal version of it off kazaa Cough)
But i own the legal version (even though i got it bought for me)
