A friend and I are going to be starting production on our movie pretty soon and I need a few questions answered before I start.
First off! I know this is a pretty sketchy subject here but do you think it would be possible for me to copy Halo for the soul purpose of LAN. I mean I am gonna have like 10 comps at my house and a total of 4 people have it around my town. So I need a cheap easy way to get all of those people in my game.
Second! Can I mod my game so that the "blue team" is actually green in color? It seems simple and I was wondering if someone could hook me up with this.
Third! Do mods I apply to my game as a host affect everyone else? Example: I put BOLL's MC flying on Blood Gulch. Now I will be the only person patching in this mod. So in theory will I be the only one capable of flying? (camera angle purposes)
LAST! I have searched, read, looked, etc. I still cannot find a decent tutorial on how to remove the HUD (or most of it). I mean sure the black does give it a movie effect but it would be nice to see it in full screen. I even have a movie of someone who did it I just can't figure out how to do it myself!
To anyone who answers this, thanks. I appreciate it and you will recieve credit when we push out the final product.
Movie help!
k i have answers to all your questions i hope
first i think so probably
second just do a slayer and have the ppl all green for one team and wutever for the other
third no the mod will not affect everyone
and last just go in hmt3 and switch the hud u want (pistol or wutever) with empty
there

Sorry to break the news to ya, but copying Halo 10 times won't let you and your friends all play together.
First, you can't make a copy of the CD that will actually start the game (trust me on this, I tried it like 10 times). There are no CD patches *cough* www.gamecopyworld.com *cough* and you could always make an image of the CD in CloneCD (very hard to find though, look on p2p networks if you have to) and then mount the image using Alcohol 120%.
Second, you all need different serial numbers to be able to play in the same server. You can all play and have the same one, but it takes forever to find a server that will accept you (and the ones that do are always laggy). There is a way around this though: if you find 10 people who are willing to give you their serial numbers (FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF LAN) then you'd be set. But the problem is convinving them that you'll only use it for LAN. And that sounds like an easy promise, but trust me it's hard once you have their serial number.
Lol, now that one question is out of the way...
Anyways, I'm guessing you probably could change the colors.
Third, yeah it would only apply to you if you're the only one that has the mod running, even if you're the one hosting the server. Keep in mind though that if, for example you change the pistol to shoot rockets and host the server, then everyone's pistol wil shoot rockets (they won't see rockets, they will see a bulllet, but if it hits say a 'hog then the 'hog would flip over just like it would if a rocket hit it). There might be some issues with the seeing you flying too...
Anyways, good luck witht he vid!

Ok, lol, I dont like your way of making an image of the CD (or a Virtual Drive). Do this instead:Master Chief 1128 wrote:Sorry to break the news to ya, but copying Halo 10 times won't let you and your friends all play together.

Use Bittorrent (its a p2p program, look it up on google) and go to: http://suprnova.web.siol.com/list_news.html which is a Bittorrent site. Find the actual Halo game in their games section (get the one that has BIN & CUE). Save Target AS the link and db click it in wherever you saved it in. It will then begin to download. Once the 600 or so MB downloads, download Deamon Tools (again, a google search). Deamon Tools can create your virtual drive with the .bin and .cue files.
Mount the .CUE file with Deamon Tools, and it'll create your brand new Halo Virtual Drive (It'll be called somn like D:\ or E:\, depends on how many drives you have). And then install it like you would any other game. The good thing about doing it this way, is- you dont need a real serial number, or even a serial generator. You can type in the serial "good good good good" and it'll continue on.
Ive never tried this on a LAN, but in theory, with the different serials you'd be able to do this by simply throwing the .cue and .bin files along with Deamon tools on a CD and do everything I just explained on each comp. (making up different serials as you go on). Again this is just like making a single copy of your CD except you're not using the same serial, so im not too sure if this falls as any less legal as your original method Alabast.
Oh and once you're done installing, just download the noCD patches at that same suprnova site. Its in the same section as where you found the original Halo to begin with, so enjoy. (I know every bit of this works because I set this up for friends in RL in the past, and they can do everything that the retail version can, except log onto the crappy GameSpy Servers).
Any questions, feel free to ask. Though it might look complicated, it really just isnt. This is probably the easiest way you're going to find, short of going out and buy more copies. "Master Cheif1128"'s version might of "appearsed" to be easier, but in actual, it wasnt. He just didnt go through, step-by-step thuroughly as I did
