Mac Halo Modding?

Just curious, now that the Mac version of Halo is out, will the community start to port over some of these mods to the Mac? Will there even be a way for PC users to make mods for the Mac version? And should there be a forum created here for Mac Halo Modding, alongside the HaloPC and Xbox Modding?

it depends on a couple of things:

the compatability, which I'm sure the Mac developers worked out... I hope so... *looks at Mac across the room* *kisses*

The demand... I doubt there will be a massive response to it, like there was for HaloPC.

I'm all for helping Mac users out though, I still am one.

Well I'm not even a Mac user. But it seems kind of unfair to leave Mac users out of the modding scene.

I'd be curious to see if the Mac version's MAP files looked and worked the same way. Because if so, people could potentially edit the MAPs on their PC and then transfer them to the Mac. Oh and I'm sure there must be Hex editors for the Mac too. Interesting to see if the hex values are the same.

My guess is they're different. Gearbox didn't make the Mac version... I forget who did, its on the tip of my tongue. Anyway, my guess would be Gearbox and the Mac developers were in very close contact about this sort of thing. One thing though, HMT wouldn't work on Mac... I know that almost for certain. If it does, I can clear some of this stuff up, because my bro's getting it for our Mac. I'll try to find out more over the holidays.

Yes, but don't hex editors exist for the Mac? That's the root of all Halo modding is the hex editing. That's where it started on the PC and Xbox, and that's where it could start on the Mac. All that would be necessary is to remap the offsets if they are different.

i spent about an hour trying to mod halo, and the hex editor of choice is... well... called HexEdit.
That didn't work, so i downloaded grunt gulch, a premodded map, which didn't work.

I dont know anything else to do.

BTW, if u guys have an FTP, i can provide u with all the files u need.
oh yeah.
and i also agree that it is unfair to leave mac users out of the scene.
and when i go to the offset, i see the proper value... so are they the same maps?
and about gearbox:
mac soft useed alot of thier code, hell, they even have an intro spot.

yah, on the apple website's halo preview, the header was: "remember 1999?"
cus at the mac world conference announced that halo was going to be for mac, and they had a gameplay demo and everything.

but what if i play on a server with mods, will it work?
my guess is yes.
does anyone know of any dedicated mod servers?
