How do I give the ar a working zoom function without swapping the whpi dependancy for the pistol.

Are you talking about adding the scope like the pistol and the sniper have? Or are you talkin just addin zoom to the AR?

You may only have to make a dependency change in like hht or something, but I'm not sure.

This is quite easy to add a scope

1) Open HMT v3.5
2) Click on "[weap] Weapons" over on the left list
3) select "weapons\assult rifle\assult rifle"
4) the over to the right at the top select how many zooms you want
it to have and how much.

TA_DA ur done lol i hope this helps you

NOTE: ONLY SCOPE NO GRAPHICS

The problem is I have to add dependancies to the ar's wphi meta. Is there a way to do this through HHT or HMT? Or might I be better off trying to adapt a copy of the pistol's scope?

What I think you should do, is extract the files for the AR and I guess the pistol, then open the xml files of the pistol in notepad, find watever it is that refrences to the zoom scope and copy it/them, then open the corresponding xml file for the AR, then go to a spot between two dependencies, hit enter, then paste the dependency of the pistol into the file. I'm prety sure this will work, however, I have never tried it, soooo...

And to do this, you may have to rebuild. And there may be a simpler way, but Idk what it is.

I'll give that a try, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a rebuild. Time to remember how to rebuild a sp map.
