Sorry I didn't see your post before. I can probably do some ambient sounds for you if you need some. I have never done loops before, but it's worth a try. What type of sounds would you like? I do mostly halo style ambients. Long extended string music, with a few sounds here and there. I can do bird sounds, waterfalls ect also. Perhaps a nice strong wind sound would go well with ice fields.
darkness, your way ahead of me in thinking. do what you feel would work, i trust your judgement.
andrew, i want this to play in the UI if possible. it would own a tad me thinks.

kill the credits totally as they wont be needed.

here are the 2 tracks for ambient sounds for icefields.
http://pepness.net/ftwvids/eeriewind.eeriewindlp1.wav
http://pepness.net/ftwvids/windswirl.PE46_47lp1.wav
both them are only 7 seconds long comprising of the ambient sounds making up the sound environment for icefields. so i guess the track would have to be 7 seconds long at loop at the correct timing. my suggestion would be taking thoes 2 files and editing them in your sound mixing prog. by adding your own little tweaks to them.
remember to save in .wav format.

its either 2 things..
a line in the lightmap im not aware of or a weird shadow the BSP is casting somehow or whatever. the issue isnt with the bitmap or you would see it everywhere repeating.
as for a better gfx card..
these screens are being taken on a 6800GS. thats almost 3+ year old technology. im doing this on purpose to show ppl that you dont need some 8800Ultra for this to still look good at reasonable frames.
