there are other flame particles as well, mostly flame thrower ones- however I have found that burning flame looks best

the pictures are all of burning_flame ... The other ones are somewhat "skimpy"

ok dave, can you sum up all of the stuff in this forum, what you did for the final product, cause im kinda getting lost from what to do or not to do, just do a mini tut in this thread on how to get your fireball nades

Here you go:

In HMT v3, go to [part]Particles and copy the meta from effects/particles/flash/burning_flame.

Paste this over top of weapons/plasma grenade/plasma grenade armed .

that makes it flame in the air.

to change the explosion, go to [pctl] Particle System and copy the meta from anything you want [I chose scorpion shell :twisted: ] and paste it over plasma grenade/effects/explosion .

And if you want to, change the bitmap for it. To do this, you need to swap the meta of the FRAG GRENADE bitmap overtop of the plasma grenade bitmap, because the normal plasma nade bmap is not editable. Then just save, change, inject, and enjoy!

OK, I got it all done and it looks real cool. I made it so when it explodes, it has the effect of needeler set exploading (because I am working on an alienish mod) and I wanted the effect of fire, but I was hopeing I could make the flames, or normal plasma trail effect a different color, like green, or red, or purple, you get the picture. How would I do that?

the plasma grenade skin? no, read previous posts. the bitmap is some sort of animated gif-like image, and you cant edit it in photoshop...

Swap plasmagrenade armed particle with nozzleflame particle to geet green long flame trails. If you switch particles it will keep a blue shade to it so like when I do smoke for my flare gun it is blue smoke.

Hey, i kinda wanted the frag grenade explode like the plasma grenade, so I swapped explosions. But when I triied to open it up, I got the very wonderful exception error. Any idea how i could do this without getting an error?

i figured this out like 3 months ago, and all of that stuff will work, but if u wanna make the trail like dark blue, or orange, or red, or whatever: go under BG for example, then bitmaps, effects\particles\energy\bitmaps\smoke c generic, export both, edit them to be whatever color u like, backup the original file, save it as Dxt1, import it into HMT, if it says "new image is larger than original....truncate?" say no, then the second one will turn black, import the second one and they both will be perfect. thats for plasma, for flames, to make them redder, effects\particles\flash\bitmaps\burning flame, and do all of the above steps to import. for editing the color of the plasma explosion, or to make it flame: effect\particles\energy\bitmaps\cloud c fire, change it to whatever u like, and follow the steps above to import. for human grenades the explosion bitmap is effects\particles\flash\bitmaps\fire cloud and once again, follow the above steps for importing. and last of all, if u like the longer tail to the plasma grenade, swap either smoke c fire or plasma gren armed with burning flame, then edit the color. a combo of swaping the b. flame and plas thing, then turning the burning flame thing to red, then taking the b. flame separate flames and copy pasting them on top of all of cloud c fire clouds makes a napom grenade.

thats pretty much it, but if u have any quentions, just ask.

um... how do you make red plasma shots for the ghost or something?

you'd have to export the bitmaps and change the color balance in Photoshop.

um...yeah when i use burning_flame, the trail shows up lime green, not complaining, looks cool, but it does that on 2 comps ive tried it on

uhhh... that is weird... i just re-applied the mod and its green alright! But i remember on the first mod that i did change the bitmap. I changed the color balance a abit to make it redder
