Ok, I exported the map as an obj file from HMT, imported it into gmax using god knows what kind of plugin, and now I'm trying to use chimp to get it out, when I get:

Chimp Error: 'frame' object was not found.

What does this mean? Is it something wrong with the importer I used?

You need to create a box called frame and link the map too it. Follow the tutorial that comes with HEK, it explains it more detailed.
