I have a new mod I will probably release later this week. Just wondering if I could get some suggestions for additional changes. Right now it's good, but I feel it needs a little more to tweak it to perfection and get people interested.
Description: it's a Death Island gameplay mod (i.e. no super-crazy stuff). The AR and pistol have effectively switched functions. The AR is a Halo 2-esque battle rifle with a zoom, tighter accuracy, and higher rate of fire (damage reduced slightly to compensate). The pistol is more of a high-caliber stopper gun. Each round does almost twice as much damage as a regular pistol bullet, but the rate of fire is reduced and the clip is smaller (8 shots). It no longer has a zoom and accuracy is decreased, i.e. it's most effective at short range. This is a hand cannon, not the sniper-pistol of standard Halo. It even has a small force value for knocking your enemies off their feet slightly.
All rockets are now faster, with a fire contrail, and home in. This is primarily to counter the new Banshee, which is faster in flight and quicker to take off as well. It also has upgraded weapons: a brutal machine gun in place of the plasmas, and a three rocket spread fire in place of the fuel rod gun. This is the beast of the map, and most everything else was designed to help counter it.
Ghosts can fly. They are even faster than the Banshee and have a similar machine gun (but no second weapon).
Gun turrets fire homing rockets (slow rate of fire) and are good counter-Banshee weapons. (To attempt to level the playing field, I made the rockets slightly faster than the banshees, and slower than the ghosts... so as tempting as it is to hop in the death machine Banshee, they are bigger & slower targets than the more irritating ghosts.)
The warthogs and rocket hogs have been camoflaged to make them better than useless. Both can be driven & the main weapon fired from the driver seat, or driven & the master chief's weapon fired from the passenger seat, for maximum flexibility.
The map has been reskinned and given a new set of ambient sounds, mostly from Sidewinder. It's a snow/winter skin, in other words. Looks pretty good, although with model exporting in HMT not working right, I couldn't port over the pine trees... had to replace all scenery with rocks. But that gives the island a very different, desolate feel, and takes away a lot of the hidey-holes. In short, if you get out in the open, you better have a good weapon handy.
So: suggestions? With or without changes, this will be posted later in the week.

I have ended up texturing the hogs and tanks in a snow-camoflage... left everything else the same. I'd like to do more skinning, but still haven't figured out how to inject bmp's without overwriting the existing texture. I don't want to erase the standard bitmaps, I'd like the changes to be specific to the map.
wow, your mod sounds very similar to how i was starting to make mine....since you posted the idea in writing first ill let you have it and all, specially since i havent even started learning how to skin. hope you manage to do good with it...if you dont mind id like to finishe up with mine though.
