When you target a player with a weapon, the reticle turns red if close enough. What determines this?
The weapons I have have different ranges than the weapons they're replacing.

Both, on the Xbox. I don't know if it's active at all in Halo PC aside from determining when the reticule turns red.
Magnetism can occur without the reticule turning red, it doesn't play a role.

true, it just turns red when you aim it directly at an enemy. and in halo PC it would not indicate that your bullets will auto aim or have magnetism because halo PC has lead
