Rebuilding SP maps does work with HMT. There are a few changes you have to make, though. The reason why it stops at the end is because it's extracting the BSP. This can take a while, but it will complete. PM me whne you get your map extracted and I'll help you rebuild it. Or you can use a magical new program called Eschaton which makes me redundant.

Well for a general understanding (especially if you're familiar with HMT) I compiled a large tutorial here. For PMI in general (which works for any map) there's a youtube tutorial here. That should give you a decent idea of how to use it.

You need to replace the right BSP if you're PMI'ing, and then correct three of the required files in the rebuild box.

Really, using eschaton is tons easier, and you should get into the habit of using it. It's the modding application "of the future", and at this moment HMT is nearly obsolete, if not for it's model import and export functions.

For PMI with esch all you do is open the map your tag you want.

After that
1. Choose the tag you want
2. click map > recursively export meta and references
3. Open and expand the map you want the tag in
4. Click the maps folder (the one without read / write)
5. click the map, choose the tag you want from the drop down box and click import.
6. once thats done click rebuild, save it where you wish and replace your current map

You should really learn, its very useful.

Compare that to:
  • Batch Extract
    Extract BSP
    Open new map
    Recursively Extract Tags
Extract raw model offsets for every model, and save them to the correct folder.
    Decrap All the models
Place all files into a single build folder
copy/paste a stock map that you originally extracted.
rebuild, selecting the source of each tag.
And oh what's that HMT? 95% done with your mod and you forgot a tag? Oh. Start over buddy.

Escahton, you forgot a tag? No biggie, extract it, load the modded map, and rebuild it.

Huh HMT? You forgot to decrap a model? That sucks. Start over.

Eschaton, you do all that for me? Oh why thank you.

There is a possible problem with rebuilding a SP map in eschaton multiple times.
