Some help with Sparkedit/exporting .obj files

Post by ariel_jesus237 »

Ok so I will explain what it is I'm attempting to do and where my problem lies. I am trying to mod GoldenEye (for the N64) by importing a Halo map into it. This is somewhat possible as maps from Perfect Dark & Banjo Kazooie have been succesfully modded into the game. Now my problem lies in the fact that I need an .obj & .mtl file from the map I am attempting to import (Hang Em High in this case). SparkEdit allows me to export a mesh of the map into .obj format but this obj format does not come with an .mtl to reference any textures so its basically just a bunch of lines and vertices. I was wondering how can i get an .obj with an .mtl from SparkEdit, and how could I export all the textures or bitmaps from the .map file. Thanks in advance.

use HMT for exporting as an .obj and I have never heard of a .mtl file ever.

I dont think you can export the .obj of a BSP with HMT(you need to use sparkedit) and i don't know what an .mtl file is. But where did you learn about making maps for goldeneye?

EDIT: in hmt go under the [bitm] tag and use that to export DDS textures, then convert them to a different file type with DXTbmp

i have hmt but how do i export the obj with it? and .mtl is a file that references the textures of the map. i dont know what it is either lol i just know i need it

and i learned about the maps from www.goldeneyevault.com

and i have managed to export textures as .dds but i need that .mtl file somehow

supposedly from one of my fellow modders, the .obj refers to the map's textures referenced again in the .mtl file which finally leads us to the bitmaps.

Why don't you search google or ask on the goldeneye forum about dds to mtl or jpg to mtl or something?
