I'm back! OK so I extracted the bitmaps.map manually from the .cab file and yet bullet holes still don't work. Can anyone help me fix this?

if you have reinstalled halo completely, visually checked in hmt the bitmaps are not corrupt and your still having issues then your vid card is dying or drivers corruption. what card do you have?

Do you have decals on? If it still isn't working and you did, you need a new graphics card, whats your graphics card anyways?

My GFX is an ATI 9800, when I try to open bitmaps.map in HMT it says "Not a valid Halo map file or file not found, I reinstalled Halo Completely, drivers ain't corrupted, GFX card is new, I have decals on, the disc isn't damaged, and I'm stumped!

You don't. You open a playable map with HMT (bloodgulch.map, putput.map ect) and then scroll through the bitm tags and pick one of those. You can view and edit bitmaps there.
