Cant find any spawn points in sp>mp map

Post by HaloChief180 »

So I decided to try my hand at re-building the sp map Halo(a30) into multiplayer.
I used the multiplayer map Bloodgulch for the conversion.
Everything went well, I followed the tutorials and got the map rebuilt. I opened the map in sparkedit, both v.3.1 and 3.2 and they loaded good, no exceptions.
I read in the tutorials that I had to put all the player spawn points in the map, but went I looked through the map, I didnt see anything,
so I'm just wondering do I have to do anything extra,
or if u can tell me which maps work with the sp>mp conversion. I'm really stuck at this point.

Thanks in advance =)

Edit: also I didnt see any vehicles or weapons in the map either, idk if this is normal or if i have to rebuild the map again using something other then bloodgulch.

depending which BSP you converted the spawns and other items are probably outside the BSP or underneath it.

It's been a Looooong time since I used sparkedit for a mod, but i think if you go into options and extend the camera range to something huge, you will have an easier time seeing the spawns.

Put the camera back afterwards, or sparkedit will lag like crazy.....

yep i learned something new, and the extended camera worked decoy, but i've run into another problem, I made three player spawn points on the halo map, but they were gone when I closed out of sparkedit, any idea how to make them stick?

Edit: I moved all of blue team spawn points on the halo a30 map, but I still spawn in the black limbo land, how can this be? I left red team spawn points alone for now, so I thought that just switching to blue would get me on the map, but no luck. =(

how about...you hold ctrl. and select everything out of the bsp...and put it in the bsp. so you know everything works instead of just taking random things and putting them in.

that it what i always did with sparkedit. It always worked. but now i agree with Decoy and use Sapien :D

Sparkedit...that runs the game while you edit the map kind of. lol its for CE. but Sparkedit is the closest thing to sapien that works with PC.

You cant select your spawn start point, so theres no guarantee you will start on the one you moved. Plus, if you move the CTF spawns too far from the flag, you will get a waiting for space to clear message on start up that wont go away (ever). Try starting in blue team slayer mode until you have moved everyting.

Moving them all at once is the better plan.
Moving over to PCE modding and using CE Hek for your PC mods will speed things up, once you get to grips with the HEK tools.

Try www.halopc.net for a ton of info, and access to a bunch of exprt modders. No one really mods PC here any more.

Thanks Decoy yep I did have that waiting for space to clear message at one point, but i didnt know it was from moving the ctf spawns, ill have to remember that for next time. I restarted though and chose a easier map to work with, d40 terrain map, and that one im happy to say has worked, all the player spawns worked, so now im just gonna add the rest, like vehicles, equipment and such.

Thanks for all the help everyone. =)
