chainging contrail length?

this is probaly a nooby question but how do i make a contrail last longer?

If you have Phenom's plugin pack, I believe you change the "Point Generation Rate" in the contrail tag.

cant you just change the contrail life to like 10 or something

I am having the same problem with the plasma rifle bolts contrail! I once made the point generation rate so high that the bolts looked like star wars shots. Now I cant. Now, no matter how high I set the point generation rate for the plasma rifle contrail, I wont see a single difference! I was going to start another thread untill I saw this. Can anyone help? I am obviously using HMT3.5 + all plugins...

People say using HHT is much better.
