Noobs, new theory and explanation

Post by CrimsonKnight »

Ok ppl, ive read many posts with the phrase "im no noob, ive been modding for so and so months" let me tell you, being a noob has nothing to do with time spent modding. Just like being a pro has nothing to do with time spent working. If you work stupidly then you're not learning anything are you? Being a noob is directly linked to the stupidity of your actions. If you know your question to be stupid, why ask it? If you see everyone yelling at everyone else to use the GODDAMNED SEARCH FUNCTION why don't you use it? I know it isn't complicated, click it, type in what you want to find and press search. Quite easy. Maybe the button is just too small for you to see...perhaps we can rectify that by maybe sitting closer to the screen or just getting your eyes checked. Anyway, here are some things to remember.

1) Never ever admit that you are a noob, this is analogous to saying that a car accident is your fault. It is just a no no. You are automatcially put into the "mentally challenged" bin as opposed to the "possible gem" bin.

2)Never ever ask a question you know to be stupid. This one is self explanatory.

3)Never ever ask to not be flamed. This is like telling a child not to stick his finger in the outlet. We are going to do it just to spite you.

4)Never EVER EVER think that you are better than anyone else simply because you succeeded where they failed once.

5)Try not to gloat to your friends that you are a halo modder until you can come up with your own ideas.

6)When you come up with a mod don't submit it unless there are either a)very few like it b)It is super fantastic fun cool c) it is one of a kind or d)it demonstrates something interesting.

7) Most importantly USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. I cannot stress this enough. I have refused to help anyone who asks a question already asked.

8)If you get flamed DO NOT retaliate. Trust me on this, it only fans the flames, pardon the pun.

and lastly, 9) Strive for excellence, I hate lazy noobs.

EDIT::::: i forgot to say, Just stop asking about the damn HEK, it will come out when it comes out. Trust the keepers of this site to keep you informed. No one knows when it will come out, we all want it, we all are salivating over it. Just stop making topics about it.

Very good steps.

And for those of you newbies out there you can avoid being n00bs by reading around the forums before posting questions, and rules on forums are usually avaliable in plain sight if you want to fit in.

This thing needs to be a sticky, but then ::sigh:: it would just be another glob of important news that no noob bothers to read.

the worst part is that being a noob means that you are a self perpetuating virus. They are ignorant and will forever be ignorant because they choose to ignore posts such as this and your sig...so sad :(
