but what does MAMBO do that phpBB boards dont?

Sorry for the late reply,

Well MAMBO has File management like user uploads, and VERY easy administration...the site is very easy to update content-wise because of the interface system and if the forums are disabled it wont need as much administration or moderation as a PHPBB board.

Also, how would the money for the server be generated? Would people donate for this? I only have so much money...lol

...but put that limited money into a bank account, and add 20 other peoples... it amounts to a lot of money

Well atm I have enough to buy the .com for a year and the server for a month...I guess I'll try to worry about the next payment when it comes... What would be the best way to make the site self-sufficient ? I hate running banner ads etc. Im considering google AdSense...thats probably the best way

That's why we're using the term "donate", MasterNeoChief, but fact is that the site WILL die if no one donates. I don't have enough income to support this idea forever financially. I have a site layout etc done already btw and am looking to register the .com soon.

That's a little much. That'd be about a C4. That is 4 T1's. Maybe we should rethink ourselves?

I found a new CMS called TikiWiki, I have a test version of that available here:

Its like mambo, almost fully customizable. I'll have a test version of MAMBO uploaded soon. Tell me which of the two is better

It's a size of a telephone line. It's (a T1) what most companies use for the internet. (those that have a web-site at least)

T1, is actually believe it or not, quite slow...You would not be able to support a massive amount of users on a T1 line. Those max out at a dedicated 1.5 MBs. You want speed go for servers located on the U.S. OC-192 pipeline
