this is in the modding general boardMaster_Makayo wrote:For lighting and fog, look at the Lighting thing in the HaloPcModing General i believe its in

Everyone here is wrong. I have figured out. Ok in Guilty sparks, Library, and Truth&Rec are all dark. When you Turn on your flashlight against the textures they are clear and not tinted. This sky Plugin does a Effect that looks like everything is dark but its really not. Doing this with the sky plugin is crap cause u CANNOT zoom with a sniper with night vision to see distant onbjects as in Truth&Rec, see accros the map, Turn on flashlight to see True Colors of textures (like the grass in Bloodgulch not editied and tinted). Well i can't explain myself good but some of u might know wat i'm talking about. This is how NiTrOuSoXiDe did his mod.
Anyone here ever painted level/Bloodground? That is how u draw roads, and floor. Samething for Level/test/Bloodgulch. THere are some R5G6B textures in there that are very hard to edit under that format but that is how you change the TRUE lighting of the map. Like in bloodgulch, That green light in the caves and the big shadows of the cliffs. Its all in Level/Test/Bloodgulch R5G6B textures. I have not been able to modify them correctly but i have inject a black texture in RGB format and gotten TRUE NIGT for bloodgulch. Skyplugin= FAKE Black Fog night illusion that makes everything look crappy.
if u don't understand don't ask
i have tried it and it DOES work and the other way is to edit textures. i did that sometime in November and i found it works ok. fog=doesnt do much for making things darker. the fact is fog in video games is used alot to hide farther envirnment to help imporve fps.

yes, but we're not really spamming, spamming is just saying something really off topic of what other people are talking about...MasterNeoChief wrote:Topics mostly become offtopic just for a single post...
Like now, we are talking about spamming!
Anyway,
Is it that bad when you use the sky plugin?
but anyway, I've never had problems using the sky plugin, though I haven't used it that much...
my only answer to the people who are having problems is to use the same settings that Nitrous used in his Forest Gulch mod... and see what that does... again, try not using 0,0,0 as the RGB values, I suspect that this confuses the game in some way...

Staticx57--> I know exactly what you are talking about. And to be able to correctly edit them, you need a newer version of Photoshop and the DDS plugin off this site. Open (when it asks if you want to display MIP maps, choose YES) and edit as normal, then when you go to save, when the prompt comes up and you can choose the exact format within the DDS, choose "16 bit {5:6:5}" and below that choose "Use existing MIP maps". Then hit save, an re-inject with HMT. That should do it. Have fun.
