Hex Workshop Problems

Post by Jet »

(Hi, I'm Jet and have been using Halo Mods for a while, but this is the first time I've had a problem that I couldn't find out how to fix. So call me a N00be if you want, I probably am compared to a lot of you)

Anyway, I can't get my Hex Workshop to work right. It was working, but now when I change something it goes back to the way it was. For example I would change something then I would go into the game and nothing would have changed. So I would go back and look at the file I just worked on, and it would go back to its normal values. Like it wasn't saving or something.

Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for helping :D

Working on the wrong file? Maybe you're working on your backup or something instead of the actual map file? Some hex editors require saving, others don't. I don't know, just obvious things that jump to mind. Sometimes it's the stupid thing that gets us...

Hm. I use a decent mac editor creatively called Hex Editor. There's a spot on it that I have to check to "Allow Editing" I guess in case I'm merely trying to view it. Does Hex Workshop have something like that?

I don't think so. It did work when I went through the tutorial. I've gone back to it to make sure I haven't missed anything for newer stuff. I have no clue. I'm guessing you need hex to do all the cool stuff like trigger lock with inf ammo or can you use HHT?

Oh, does the version matter? I could go and download an older version and try that. It's not like I use any other options except for the hex.

Most Hex-Editors use a auto-backup function. Some ask to Say "yes" or "no" to make a backup before saving. A couple of times, another Hex-ed. automatically created backups after saving. Just kill the sucker (so I did)!
