How to replace ghost with warthog?

Post by xenovore »

Seems like this should have a simple solution, but it's evading me...

I just want to replace the ghost with the warthog... I tried swapping the offsets in HMT; all this did was cause Halo to throw an exception upon loading the map. I also tried doing it in a hex editor, with the same result.

I've read through the posts here, backwards and forwards, and the closest thing I've seen is someone who wrote that they had the exact same problem, but I was unable to locate any solutions.

From the sounds of it, you guys do this sort of thing all the time... anyone wanna give me a clue? I'd really appreciate it!

I think you just select goto and put in the vehicle offset of the ghost and replace the stuff it comes up with with the value of the warthog in hex editor.
The fastest way to reach a goal is a straight line. The fastest way to make a straight line is with a bulldozer. Note to self: Buy a bulldozer.

just open up a hex editor, go to the offset for hog, and swap the value with that of the ghost.

Yeah, thanks guys, but like I said I already tried to set the offset BOTH in HMT and a hex editor.

But I only did it for the vehicle reference... so maybe the physics is what's causing the exception, so I'll try doing that... (Thanks for the tip, IWTPH2.)

Any other tips, please let me know! Thanks!

I didn't even think of swaping the physics. You don't really have to swap them do you? I've replaced hogs many a times with banshees and it always comes out fine. Swap the vehicle values again. Mabey you just made a simple mistake somewhere.

when I dont swap vehicle physics I do get the vehicle but it acts weird, I once swapped the warthog for the banshee and forgot physics and the new banshee went halfway through the ground when the pelican dropped it off, lol
