question about tools

I am a complete noob to this subject of halo modding. I have been looking through the forums for about a week and am confused about something. So there are all these halo editing tools out now. Are they all compatible with xbox or just some of them. Any help would be appreciated and a list of the compatible tools would be even better. Thank you too anyone who gives me help.
