Have you tried deleting the cache files on x,y , or z? Maybe that is whats giving you the problem. Worth a try. Other than that I have no idea..

Ok this is UltraMagnus
I can tell you from the start that, Halo NMP has been tested on countless xbox's and definitely did not do anything to your xbox. However, I would still like to help you with your problem

(I kinda like Halo too)
Ok be very specific here cause this tells me whats wrong
At present:
What dashboard do you have?
Have you loaded your copy of halo on any other box?
Is this a "real" copy of Halo?
At EXACTLY what point does it freeze when you put in the CD?
Have you gone through all, X Y Z drives and deleted EVERYTHING in them?
Describe "funny" noise better, exactly what noise did it make
What type of Video cable do you use?
And of course you have a NTSC xbox....

alright, first off thanx ultamangus for looking at this cuz u were the guy i was looking to talk to.
alright, this is a real copy of halo, yes it was used on other xbox (non modded) the game freeses when the light disappears, the noise is a screeching noise coming from my xbox, after the light gets to the word loading( the light actually doesnt make it to the word loading, it stops and goes backwards right before it hits loading), the light goes bakwards really slow and then my screen turns black. (the noise comes when the screen goes black). i did delete everything including my caches outa the x,y,z folders as well as my gamesaves form halo in the ms dash. im using evox. thanx for the help.

First does the screeching noise happen all the time or when you hit the loading sceen. and the loading screen you're referring to is the loading screen before you see the main menu correct?

by (-woofis-)
no the screeching only happens during the loading screen, and yes its th eloading screen be4 the main menu. o yea when i get to the loading screen i turn off my box, and my box stays on. i still here the fan and tot he chip is still on, but after like 5 seconds the box eventually turns off.

Ok
the problem is most likely a physical hardware related issue, the reason it probably happened when you were playing NMP is that it was trying to load cache files into X and the X drive might have a bad sector in it, that would explain why even when you take the default game it still freezes at the loading screen, it is important to note that Halo loads prechache files in the cache drives for the maps and loads the UI into cache, if it freezes there, it probably cant write to that section of your xbox's hardrive. This probably has nothing to do with NMP and just happened at that point. What I would try here is loading ALOT of other games so you can get one game that loads in the same spot as halo would have. If it fails in another game I would try Reformating the cache drives, THAT IS DANGEROUS, so be careful and read teh xbox scene tutorial very carefully on that.
If all games load in all cache drives (very unlikely) then open up you xbox while going to the Halo loading screen and find out EXACTLY where that screeching noise is coming from.
Also please answer the rest of the questions in my first post.

well, not exactly, youve already said that youve deleted the halo cache files,i want another game to write in the exact spot that Halo would have, if it trys to and fails, you know that drive X, sector 30002 is bad, you understand?

ok, yes, this means that your cache drives have something wrong with them, so you might have to reformat them, this can be done by using raw commands in FlashFXP, however this is DANGEROUS and can harm your xbox if you type in the wrong command.
However Im not saying that even reformating the XYZ partitions will fix it, your hard drive could have a PHYSICAL failure and then the only solution would be getting a new one.
I'll get the link to the tutorial:

ok thanx, but wut r the possible things that could happen to my box if i do mess up???? and if i do get a new hardrive wil that def fix it? cuz i was planning on gettin a newer hdd anyway

oh ok, well in that case, the safest bet would be to backup you xbox box hard drive IMMEDIATELY (C: E: and F: if you have that) and then purchase a new drive and then put it in the xbox (remember then you have to have a Evox disc to boot from) and im assuming you have a mod chip xbox and not a soft mod. Now run this tutorial on the new drive:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-ftp.php
Now its not dangerous to raw command this drive, you cant really hurt it, cause its doesn't have anything on it

ok then restore your files on to the new drive.
Now im making no promises about this, but from what it sounds like, this is my best guess what your problem is, and besides a bigger drive is always nicer. However before you do this, i would really liek you to find out exactly where the screeching noise comes from

ok be4 i do go out and spend money on a new hdd, can u just send the tut on reformating the cache drives or w.e? since u did say its harmful (if i understand correctly)

there is no tutorial on specifically doing that, thats why its dangerous, you'd have to figure out from the tutorial link above which partitions are the XYZ drives and just format them.
But you really need to backup your drive no matter what.

probably the best bet, its the only thing i can think of, if its not the drive i dont know what it is
but first find out exactly where that noise comes from, and backup the current drive
Well i need to go, tell me how it goes, please understand there's no way NMP did this.
Be safe with your xbox, and take it slow, dont want to hurt anything
