Hey,
Semi-noob here wondering if it is possible to edit the "kill notifications" in Halo (Xbox version) i.e. changing: Dude was killed by Dude#2 to Dude was "mercilessly flogged" by Dude#2. Also, is it possible to tie the type of text announcement to the weapon used; ala Quake ("riddled" for the assault rifle, "smashed" for the melee attack, etc.) Thanks for any help or ideas you all might have!

check the hex of the maps for the weapons and the kills is either in the map or the xbe hex.

Hey thanks for replying, but being a noob, I have no idea what or where these files you speak of are. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but does anyone one have a step by step process for this? Thanks again...

Dude, its pretty simple. firsy off, im guessing you have ftp access to your xbox?
Rite, well run halo, and play a level (the one you wanna mod). Once youve dun this (only need 2 play for like 2secs) one this is dun ftp to your xbox and check the x,y and z drives for the cache files, copy cache003.map (assuming its a multiplayer ur editing, dunno which for sp) to your xbox, then d/l a hex editor (i use winhex, but do a search), then open you map file in it, doa search for the text you wanna change (e.g assult rifle) then change it, save the map, and ftp it back overwiriting the original file. If it dnt work, ftp to your xbox, delete the cache003 file, then when you play halo again, it will give you a fresh file to mod

hope this helps dude
