Hello everyone,
Quick question. I plan on making a new single player mod and I was wondering, how would I go about changing the sky to a sky from a different map and what programs exactly would I need to do this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Phaile, it's been a while since I've modded Halo for the Xbox, but as single player maps are still limited in terms of how big the cache files can be, I think you'll have to overwrite existing meta data with the meta data of the sky from another map. Recursively extract the sky meta from the map you want the sky from. Now, on the map you want to add the sky to, try to overwrite most of the sky meta on it with the new sky meta, and if there's still some meta data that needs to be added, you'll have to replace the meta of other tag types in the map.
Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. It's been a while.
Edit: Oh, and HHT5 will probably be best for this.
Edit 2: You may also have to edit the scenario to select the new sky tag.

Phaile, I don't think I told you this in the PM I sent back but you, as Spartan said, you do need to change the reference in the scenario tag to that of your newly injected sky. Correct me if i'm wrong, but like I said, I don't think I mentioned that...Phaile wrote:Thanks for the help guys but Kibito already showed me what to do
Course, you know i'm always available for help so any further questions, ya know

Nah you did say that. Thanks for all the help. The whole lightmap thing is being a pain right now so I'm gonna actually mix up the theme and try something else that won't involve changing the lightmap. When you checked out your MP map I think it only had one bitmap to replace because its so small, but the Campaign map had like 13 subsets and each one was like a different size.
Yeah, that's true for single player maps. I suppose you could always just extract each one and do what I explained to each and every one of them. I'm too lazy to try it out myself...maybe when I get around to being motivated.Phaile wrote:Nah you did say that. Thanks for all the help.
