n00b looking to spice up Halo

Hey there. These forums seem awfully quiet.
I am a n00b, and in the past few days I've started applynig ppf patches to my chache003 file, in an attempt to spice up Halo. Do things a little differently. It's alrigh, but not of the mods add little to the game tactically, such as "Warthog flies" and what not.
What I'm really interested in would be reskinned veicles and players, but I cannot get them to apply.
There is one file that worked, it was desertStorm, that I downloaded as a chache003 file. Is there a trick to getting skins to work?

Haha, because adding new skins would add *much* more to the game tactically than being able to fly in a warthog... j/k ;)

not that I need to defend myself, but new skins wouldn't take anything away, and still change things a little. I just got the SparkEditor, so I cna try changin' up the spawn zones on blood gulch, do some teleporter rerouting. See how I can shake things up.

what do you even do with the ppf files

You use "ppf-o-matic" to patch them to your cache00*.map files (* is 1-5). Say you downloaded a the "BG Turret mod" by dmauro... You would patch the ppf to your cache using ppf-o-matic then when you play, You will have turrets on your base...

dont let source guy scare ya like that.. yes u were scared.. and dont lie to me... (denial is the first step of lying.. so dont even try it) cache files are just that.. if u screw em up.. delete em.. and they will remake themselves

Since the xbox only has 3 cache files on the hd at any given time just load 3 different levels and the mods will be removed.

or, you could just, hmm, delete them

yeah, but if you dont have ftp access (i.e. at a friends house) it is easy to load 3 levels to remove the mods

or u could just connect a cable and delete em

or you could just use boXplorer, an xbox file browser app, and delete em that way..... its faster than FTP also

...or the new Halo Cache Editor coming out supports deleting all cache files from within the app...

I am having problems with the ppf patching. I FTP'd 003 to my PC, opened it in ppf-o-matic, then selected the 200tree ppf and patched. reloaded it to my xbox but when I loaded BG nothing was different?? Is there some other step I need to do?

NTSC - XBOX version

Where can I find (what is it called) this new Halo Cache editor?

You may be using the wrong cache00*.map file (*=1-5). Load the map you want to mod on your xbox. Then FTP to your box and find the most recent created file, that will be the cache file that you need to patch, then just FTP it back and your all set to play.
