What am I doing wrong with these cache00x.map files?

If anyone can help me here. I just installed my Xecuter 2.3b today, as well as the EvoX bios and dashboard boot cd. Everything so far works great, until I want to mod the Halo Cache files. Looking at previous threads, I see that you should delete all the cache files, which I did. Then load the halo cd and load a MP map (BloodGulch for example). So I did that, FTP into the the XBox, and all the cache files are there again. I thought the only file that should be there is cache003.map? Heres a cut and paste from my FTP session after I already deleted and loaded bloodgulch:

-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 291504128 nov 15 01:55 cache000.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 291504128 nov 15 01:55 cache001.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 36700160 nov 15 01:55 cache002.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 49283072 nov 15 01:56 cache003.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 49283072 nov 15 01:55 cache004.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 XBOX XBOX 49283072 nov 15 01:55 cache005.map

I read that cache001 and 002 were SP maps, and that 003-005 were MP maps. So what are cache000.map and cache005.map? Maybe I read it wrong, or the poster had wrong info.

Now my problem. When I download the maps. The first time I modded just cache003 for a projectile change and a warthog skin. FTP'd it back, loaded BG, and I see no changes. So I apply it to all the MP maps, FTP'd them back, and still nothing.

All is successful for modding HaloPC, but modding XBox Halo is a whole other animal, I suppose.

ok someone correct me if im wrong but arent 0 and 1 sp maps, 2 is the ui, 3-5 are multiplayer maps. open up the cache003 that you downloaded in a hex editor, you should see "bloodgulch" at 0x10, what are you swapping them with, or if youre using raw hex what are you swapping? try the easy way and use HCE it is the simplest and most effective way to do simple stuff like you are trying to do.

If what you say is true, then I'm getting "longest" at 0x10 in cache003. I'm getting BG in cache004. And I'm using HMT. And I did the same mods on all the MP cache files. I not be understanding.

ok well if youre getting longest on cache003 then thats the cache file for longest, if cache004 is bg then thats bg, and yes i am correct, do the swap on cache 004 then drop it back, it should work

Figured it out. It seems CuteFTP wasn't updated it's directorys. I was pulling the cache files from Z, and putting them back in Z. It seems halo switched it on me at some point and put them in X. Works now! Thanks for your input.
