The only way to truely have Permanent Mods is to either have HCE on your xbox or burn a new copy of halo with the changes on it. well once you put the .ppf onto the file transfer it back to the xbox then load up your HCE to see what you changed or can change.

No just replace it over the original, but back up your original first.

You save the map as compressed in SE or something, rename it and replace the original compressed map in the Halo directory.

ok, i put the ppf on the cache 003 before compressing it and after i did it.......and it didn't work...........so i tried compressing the cache 003 file before putting the .ppf...........so after i put the .ppf on my newly compressed cache 003 it don't open in sparkedit.........and i tried replacing the file bloodgulch.map in my halo directory and it didn't work...........

Ok if you patch a cache and it doesn't work when you put it back then the patch is bad. If it works then you can compress it and move it to your Halo directory. Trying to patch a compressed map is just silly, unless it was created using two compressed maps.
