Now that I have a thousand ppf files i am tired of moving them from my computer every time so I tried to download halo cache editor. The v0.8 that is on the website didnt' seem to have all the files on it and it had no config file to set it up so i found v0.7 and i still can't get it to work. It has the config file and i kept it as:

[HCE]
Region = NTSC
Skin = xbox scene
AutoSave = true

[Halo]
PAL = F:\Games\Halo\default.xbe
NTSC = F:\Games\Halo\default.xbe

This file location for the default.xbe is correct for my halo default file on my hard drive but for some reason when i boot up HCE it gets stuck loading. I have the evolution X dashboard and the xecuter 2.2 lite. Oh, and for some reason when I was trying to fix the config at one point the program did infact run but the next time it didn't...... Please help!

I recently found v0.6 and it did work with no problem so i have no idea what's going on. In order to make my v0.7 version work I placed the version 6 default.xbe in the file as a replacement and it worked but it didnt' have the add patch option in the menu so esentially it is identical to the version 6 file (since i guess default.xbe it is the main run file or whatever). I know other people are having this problem too w/ the loading screen freezing so someone please help us out.

Mine works if I use boxplorer so I must have done something wrong when I put it as an item in the main menu in evox.ini

Hmmm weird very weird, maybe I was too stupid to patch the xbe to retail
You could betatest HCEv0.8 because it now has logs so you can see what happens ;)
PM me if you want to test it out :)

I recently got the v0.7 version to work but I had to install avalaunch and run it out of that. It works great for patching the levels but for some reason it NEVER restores the cache 003 file so if I stop playing a game I patched and hit "restore defaults" in HCE and add new patches it freezes up in the halo level loading screen because the patches overlap eachother. Now I need to find a way to reset the default cache 003 in HCE so that I dont' have to delete the cache and re-load the halo level every time before I add new patches. I found a way but it takes too long... read here for more details on what I did do and please give me help if there is a better way.

Clearing the cache with HCE7 will not work for me. Mine's on the Z drive. Do you have it programmed for the X?

the HCE feature "reset cache" only changes variables that you have changed from the map menus. for example when you select a map, say bloodgulch, it lists all the things you can change in several pages to the limit of the bloodgulch.ini, when you change say the assault rifle to a rocket launcher and select reset cache it returns the setting of the assualt rifle back to its original state. HCE does not currently support reseting ppf files. Or rather taking out ppf patches from the map. However in the next release of HCE you will be able to so long as the ppf has the setting that allows that to happen. (when a person makes a ppf they have the option of making the ppf reversible). I am not the maker of HCE however I am a betatester for it. If I can't answer question then xbox warez can because he is the guy that made the kick ass app.

I seem to be having the same problem, but HCE only freezes for me at the loading screen after I use IGR. I can reboot and HCE will work without a problem! Also, I can start HCE from boXplorer after IGR. :(
