how to not break the maps?

i mod Halo 2, but i really want to mod halo 1 so i put the maps on my computer and HD and then i started to mod them in dothalo but almost everything you do normally for halo 2 maps destroys a halo 1 map can someone tell me how to not break halo 1 maps? or should i use a different program? i know how to compress and decompress but it says there is something wrong with my disc when i try to play the map, im assuming thats the halo 1 version of failing to load the map well just wondering what to do

First off, don't use dothalo. Not that it's a bad program, but just there are better ones for Halo 1. Get HHT and Sparkedit to start off. HHT is verygood(can do SP-MP BSP conversions quite easily with it.) and Sparkedit to place things on the level.

well says somethings wrong with my disc if that helps you thats what i mean by broken and thanks i'll get some H1 modding tools
