How do I install multiple copies of the same .map

Post by Streaker »

Say a person wanted 2 or 3 versions of a modded map permanently, like the serveral different versions of BG in NMP. Can I just rename them like chiron.map(since that sux) and it will work? or do I have to hex edit them? if so where/what?
Thanks

yes... but you do need to do a little hex work. It's pretty easy, just open the map in a hex editor and you will see right away what to change. At 0x20 is the name of the map. All you need to do is change that. (don't forget 'chiron' is 'putput' :) )

You should use hhtv4, it can change the internal name for you so you dont have to hexedit it, or think of the things like putput is chiron and carousel is derelct and stuff.
Just load your map in hhtv4, then under tools you see 'change internal name" just set it to example putput.
Afetr that compress the map with hhtv4 and save as putput.
That's alot easier!
