well you either don't have the disk burnt right or you don't have the external chip bios right.

Another thing you might want to think about is the fact that there are three different types of DVD drives that come with xbox's, and they all work differently when it comes to reading burned media.

If you have a Samsung drive, a CDRW or DVDR should work flawlessly.

If you have a Phillips drive, DVDR's will work best, and CDRW's will work occasionally (you may have to try it 10 times to get it to work).

If you have a Thompson drive, DVDR's will usually work, but any other media will rarely work.

I would recommend not using CDR's on any drive, use CDRW at least.

xbox-scene has threads on their forum regarding different drives and media that work best together.

It is possible to have burned the cd correctly and it won't work because of this.

However, if this is your first time modding, there's also a very good chance that there is another issue. It took me months to get my first mod working. :)

Good luck.

Did you ever find the reason out for it not working man?

I've found all 3 DVD drives to read CDRW, but only the Samsung 605 reads CD-R. My modded Samsung 616T kicks butt though. It reads everything.
