I have a few questions about playing online with a mod. Does the person/persons you're playing against need to have the same mod and does using a mod create any extra lag?

Yes all people playing have to have the same mod. The only exception to that is textures, you can play with different textures and not go out of sync. im pretty sure it works if you change the sounds too.

Some mods create lag because of bots and stuff. but that only happens if you have alot of people playing.

Therefore it would even lag over a LAN syslink.

It doesnt lag sooo much over system link as long as the map isnt too big
