Halo map problems ... Need some help

Post by dtw2005 »

Hey ive downloaded several maps in the map format and as ppf patches but i seem to only get about 1/2 of them to work. some levels gime me the dirty disk error ... some say loading map and just freeze i guess ... and others (most frustrating) when the map loads, vehicles are missing ... even maps from halomaps.com. I have the patched xbe... i know how 2 use ppf-o-matic and i know how 2 delete catch files ... i know how 2 change the internal and external names ... i dont know what the problem is. I've looked at all those maps in spark edit and it shows them like they are suppose 2 be. ive even ftp'd the catch files to my pc and they look right too ... they just dont load right (why). I havent successfully blayed a mp level with a banshee yet ... those are the particular ones that screw up ... map in sparkedit looks fine ... catch files in spark edit look right 2 ... ive spent days trying 2 figure out something because i didnt wanna make anyone mad by asking a dumb question ... but i cant seem to find anyone with this problem. ... Any advice? thanks.

You are probably putting compressed maps into the cache drives. If the map is smaller than about 30mbs it is compressed(except for TSF's Silent Cartographer which is 60 something MB compressed).

If they are 47MB or 115MB they are cache files. If it 115 MBs, you will need the Conversion Runner xbe patch.

well i dont think thats the problem. every time i try 2 get them 2 work, i delete the catch files and i put the compressed map in the halo maps folder. Some of the maps load ... but if a map is made 2 have banshees or the rocket hogs in them, the vehicles never load. all the other things that are suppose 2 be different are different ... it just leaves out the vehicles. and im not just talking about a few maps that i have tried 2 make ... these are the maps posted on here and halomaps.com. ive used sparkedit to look at the maps before trying and even the catch files after tying ... they all have banshees and rocket hogs in them but they just dont play right? Ive used the xbe patch off of here and ive tried the 1 at halo mods. I dont see how i could be doing anything wrong. :( i must have bad luck. :( any other ideas? thanks

I am having a similar problem it sounds like that as well. But I am injecting my own meta from other maps(CE). The models are injecting fine it seems. They also show up in Sparkedit theres no problem for me to move them or duplicate them either. The problem happens with weapons or ehicles. I have sucessfully imported scenery from CE maps in game tho. Is this the same type of issue that you are having? If so, what have you tried so far?

Might Have A Solution

If you get the dirty disk error that means you need to run the .map files and stuff threw ppf-o-matic3 program
Heres a tut

Applying .ppf files...

Things to have handy before we get started...

1. PPF-O-Matic v3

2. A clean cache file of the map you would like to patch.

3. The .ppf file that you would like to patch the clean cache file with.

Lets get started...

1. Open up ppf-o-matic v3.

2. OK, where is says "ISO File" that's where you will load the clean cache file.

3. Now where it says "Patch" that's where you will load the .ppf file.

4. From here click "apply" and wait for the confirmation saying it was patched successfully and click "OK".

5. You can now exit the program by clicking "Quit".

Download ppf-0-matic v3 Here http://halomaps.com/forums/files/ppfomatic.rar
