there is a chipless way, i use it alot, no open xbox either, you need to get the non platinum hits edition of 007 agent under fire, and you need to get a special save for it, get the save to your xbox using action replay or mega x-key, its up to you to find it, i lost it, but its out there and so is a tut on how to make action replay accept it , all scattered about at xbox-scene.com
you still have to solder TWO points for it to work...spartan002 wrote:there is a chipless way, i use it alot, no open xbox either, you need to get the non platinum hits edition of 007 agent under fire, and you need to get a special save for it, get the save to your xbox using action replay or mega x-key, its up to you to find it, i lost it, but its out there and so is a tut on how to make action replay accept it , all scattered about at xbox-scene.com
No you don't. It is a hack in the font files that MS dash uses that loads a BFM bios which will then load evox(or any dash you want). It's called UDE. I have it now cuz I'm too cheap for a modchip. I don't have any disadvantages to a chip(I can even disable the hack if I want/need to) PM me if you want details.
uh ok guys what ever you say I have tyed it and it never works so I just solder the 2 points and I can cut it on or off...

No, you don't have to do anything with the two solder points. And no, you don't have to open your xbox.
By the way, your xbox kernel version can't be too high or this won't work. Do a little bit of research on xbox-scene.
Ok, here's a shot tut for what you need to do. Note, you must have access to a modded xbox to do this.
1) Get one of the following games (they can't be platinum or it WILL NOT WORK): MechAssult, 007 Agent Under Fire, or Splinter Cell. You must also have a memory card (NOT Action Replay, it screws up the gamesave).
2) Download the saved game hack, Xbox Save Manager, the audio or font hack (whichever one you want, it's up to you. I prefer the font hack. Try to get the most up-to-date hack, older versions have a lot of glitches), the origional M$ dashboard (which can be found at your ussual sources, Slayer's evox auto-installer), and some kind of FTPing program.
3) Figure out how to network your xbox and pc, and modify the gamesave hack's evox.ini to fit your networking needs (goto www.xbox-scene.com to learn how).
4) Send the game hack to the modded xbox, and put it on the memory card.
5) Delete all the game data of the game you are using (ex. if you are using MechAssult, delete all the downloaded content and saved games).
6) Go to the options and disable auto-loggin into xbox live (trust me, if you don't want to get banned from xbox live, do this step).
7) Shut down your xbox.
8 ) Plug in the crossover cable into your xbox and pc (you can but a crossover cable at you local electronics store).
9) Turn on your xbox, and lauch the game of your choice.
10) Launch the hacked gamesave (in MechAssult, you go to Campaign and then "Run Linux", in Splinter Cell you go to Campaign, or something like that, continue, and then checkpoint, which is ussualy checkpoint A).
11) FTP into your xbox.
12) Before you do this step make a COMPLETE backup of your c drive. I am not responsibe for any damage you did to your xbox because you forgot the backup. Delete everything on your drive c and then copy the origional M$ dash (again, I strongly recommend getting it from Slayer's Evox Autoinstaller).
13) Copy the stuff where they tell you (it should specify in the packadge that you downloaded, which you should get if you're a n00b at softmodding, if you want the audio hack, use Slushie's tools, if you want the font hack, I got something called "fonthackpackage-dc", although I think it's old, so search for the latest stuff. Packages are just much easier to work with if your a n00b, and they show you were to put the files. For example, it will have folers name "put this on c" and so on).
14) After you've copied the files, reboot (without any discs inside).
15 a. If it gives you some kind of error (ussualy 21) and the LED is flashing red, then: You screwed up copying the M$ dash, it was corrupt (that's why I recomment Slayer's, it won't be corrupt), or your xbox kernel doesn't support older versions of the dashboard. In any of those cases, lauch the game hack again and retry copying the older M$ dash, or copy the backup you should have made.
15 b. If you installed the audio hack, insert an audio cd, and copy a track to the HD. Phoenix should have now launched. Enjoy.
15 c. If you installed the font hack (I don't know about all of them, I'll just discuss the one I used), you should see "Phoenix" instead of "Xbox Live" in the dashboard. Launch that and have fun.
15 d. Note, if you installed the font hack, and your xbox goes into the "loop" where xbox dash is about to launch, then your xbox crashes, and your xbox dash is about to start again, and it crashes again, leave your xbox on for about 30-60 mins and it should start (although I've heard of cases where it wouldn't start for a few hours).

If all you want to do is play halo mods, it is possible to do it without opening the xbox or even installing any software, thereby leaving your xbox in stock condition with a vaild warranty.
Basically, all you need to do is gain ftp access to the harddrive, which can be done through a game save exploit as explained in many tutorials on this site. However, once you have evox loaded through an exploit, instead of installing software to the box, all you need to do is go into X,Y, or Z and overwrite your halo cache files with a patched file.
This will only work for patched cache files, not patched xbe's or actual .map files from the maps folder. Also note that every time you want to play a different mod, you're going to have to use your pc to ftp in again and upload a new map.
I wouldn't recommend doing this because the xbox has so much potential as a modded box. However, if you're scared of modding and just want to play some halo mods, you can do it this way.

Yeah, you could do that. Or you could get your hands on the files of halo, make it nmp on your pc, do the hack, and send it to your xbox under "e:\Games". Then edit your evox.ini in the hack so it could launch the games from the E:/Games" directory. Here's an example:a_madman wrote:If all you want to do is play halo mods, it is possible to do it without opening the xbox or even installing any software, thereby leaving your xbox in stock condition with a vaild warranty.
