Applying SP -> MP directly on xbox
Applying SP -> MP directly on xbox
Is it possible to copy the cache003.map SP -> MP files to Z (my cache directory) from another directory in the xbox? I currently have all of my SP -> MP maps in a folder in HCE called New Maps. I tried to use the avalaunch file manager to transfer the cache files from F to Z, but when I open Z, nothing is there, and when I copy it over and play the level it was designed for, I only get the original map. I thought I would just try it, seeing as I have to configure my network settings, run out a 50ft. ethernet from my office room to my room, just to network to my xbox, and that it would be much easier to apply the maps directly in my xbox rather than applying them on my network. Any help will do.

With the upcoming release of HCE v0.8 (i have a beta 2 version) there will be a cache save/load feature, which will backup a cache file to a directory ( ???\NTSC\Backup, or ???\PAL\Backup), and you can load it into the cache later.
For instance, I want to play TSF's Library MP, so I delete a cache (so there is an empty space to put a new MP cache), then choose "load cache", select "boarding action", and it copies the BA cache from the backup directory to X, Y, or Z.
It is really cool, to no longer have to play a map first to get it into the cache so you can patch it or modify it.

1. On their website, registered on the forums and asked to become a betatester, had to wait a couple days. Then had access to the betatester forum, which has a d/l for 0.8 beta 2.
2. Before I had 0.8, I used BoxPlorer, any other Xbox file explorer should work. just remember to delete the old cache003 first, then transfer over because there isn't enough room on the cache partition (~13 megs free w/ halo cache). Also if cache004 or cache005 are the same map then you will have problems, it would be a good idea to completely delete the cache and start over.
This is why I love the SP -> MP conversions that compress.

there are 2 versions of boxplorer, one that has g drive support but no z, and one that shows z but not g.
Wherever you go it, the file should contain default.xbe (g drive support), and another xbe, unpatched for g.xbe.
To be able to view the z partition, take the unpatched.xbe and rename it to default.xbe, and rename the other default.xbe to something else.
