Well, hey. I have no clue how to do anything here so it'd be nice if someone gave me some info about the following: Installing maps, installing other stuff, moding maps, and do in need a modchip for any of this stuff.

Ok bro, i'll help u out since we all start out as n00bs (i'm still a n00b when it comes to modding maps). First, you don't have to have a chip for this stuff, but XBox must be modded (either with a chip or an exploit). Installing maps is quite simple, if you have a .ppf file, use the ppf-o-matic to apply it tutorial at

http://www.halomods.com/site2/geeklog-1 ... &query=ppf

to install a map, just FTP into ur XBox using a hacked dashboard (Evox is my favorite), go to your cache drive (either X, Y, or Z) and rename the multiplayer map to cache003.map and replace the existing one on the drive. That's how you install a map, cant help u with modding one, sorry. And i don't know what you mean by "other stuff". Hope this helps

Does a exploit not involve me taking apart my Xbox and soldering the thing into my box? I don't trust my soldering skills (which I don't have any). Can't risk death of my box.

There are chips that you don't have to solder in...
And exploits don't require any opening of the box.
