Can someone tell me how you hack your xbox? I know you need a mod chip but I don't really know what the mod chips do or how you transfer data from you xbox to your computer and vise versa. I really want to know how to do this because I have an xbox that I've already opened and replacement parts that I already need to buy, so I figure I'll just buy a mod chip at the same time. Also could someone reccomend which mod chip I should buy that would work best for hacking halo?

about diffrent types of mod chips, installing, ftp(transfering files to your xbox from computer) etc.......

well the mod chip make it so that your xbox can read unsigned code. By this i mean that microsoft has media flags on their discs thats why without a mod chip your system will know that the cd is not original. So the mod chip makes it so that your xbox can read unsigned code such as the evox dashboard which replaces the microsoft dashboard which is just the little green screen that comes up when u start the system. Now as for modchip recommendation i would get the xecuter chips. You can either buy one that you need to solder on to the main board or one that requires u to just screw it on. Get the screw on one if you are not good at soldering or u will most likely ruin your system. Look for the new line of xecuter chips, a great mod chip site is system mod technologies.com they even have a number that u can call for help installing the chip and they won't rip u off. I u need any more help just ask. Once the chip is installed along with the dashboard u can do tons of things copy games on to the hard drive, so basically u can get games for free or whatever the rental price was. As for the transfer of data, the evox dashboard set up an ftp server allowing you to ftp into your xbox to put games, different programs etc. on the correct partition of the xbox hard drive. Its very simple once you get it just takes alot of reading, ill be here to help.

ya, i see you werent kidding, there is a ton of reading to do. im not that intrested in copying games to my harddrive and stuff,all im intrested in is hacking halo.

because the only game im intrested in is halo, and i already have two copys of it. but i guess i will copy halo 2 when i pick it up to my soon-to-be-modded xbox. Ive messed around with halo pc and done some really cool stuff, but i was never able to play it with my friends, so tahts all i really want to do. hack halo on my xbox so i can play it with my friends. Is there some short-cut I could take in the whole process if all i want to do is transfer data from my xbox to my computer? or do i have to do all the same stuff?

as for the copying of halo 2 i wouldn't do that if u want to play it online, u can't play a copy of a game online or else u will be banned for ever well there is a way around it but im not getting into that right now, to play online all you need to do is download a service such as xlink kai on your computer plug the ethernet cable into you xbox configure internet and then start xlink kai on ur computer. There is a button on xlink kai that will tell you if you xbox if recognized. For the program to recognize the xbox u must have halo running and click on system link play and halo will say something like waiting for games.

damn, how many programs do i have to download just to send files from my xbox to my pc and back? Ive been reading the tut for noobs, and so far they want me to dl an insane amount of programs. heres all the programs so far (most i dont need to and wont dl im just trying to show how many programs there are) Nero, EvolutionX, #xbins, mIRC, xecuter BIOS, Craxtion, flashfxp, winrar, Xecuter BIOS manager, xbtool, dvd2xbox, xbox name changer, trainers, ipswin,halo cache editor. thats 14 programs, of which at least 8 are required! is there and easier way to do this?

not all of those are necessary but the majority are, first of all you need the ftp client examples are: cute ftp, smartftp(what i use), or flash fxp. I take it u know what an ftp program is. Nero burning rom u will use to make all your discs it is simply the best, now the xecuter bios make it possible for you to put evolution x on your xbox hard drive, evolution x can at times be hard to find do a google search and u should be alright, if not pm me. Get the nero trial ver from nero.com. Now, Xecuter bios manager is a tool use to get the bios ready for flashing, for example some chips need the bios file to be a certain size of else it will not flash(flashing is the act of putting bios on a chip) in this case you will be reflashing your xecuter chip only if you bought one that has been preflashed, get a chip that has been preflashed because then you don't need to buy the manual flasher. Xecuter bios manager is simple to use for example, i may have downloaded a bios file that was 256kb in size, inorder for it to flash it must be 512 in size, you would load the bios in bank 1 of the program then in bank 2 and save the new file. Winrar is one of the best utilities to have just get it. In stead of xbtool i would get xcommander. It is just a utility used to compy files etc. I will now outline the steps to run ftp on ur xbox

1. Put in chip
2. make bios cd, switch chip to umprotected an then flash
4. Make an xiso(download xiso) of the folder that contains the evox files.(use xiso to make the bios cd also)
3. Wait this is step 3 sorry- edit the evox ini to match ur computers network settings, or course the ip must be different then ur computers.
5.u can run dhcp on the xbox if u have a router in the case just download the avalaunch dashboard it will autimatically request dhcp. Other wise edit the evox ini to match internet connection sharing you ip would be something like 192.168.0.2
6. Now our evox or avalaunch should be running and u should have ftp.

thanks for all your help, i cant find exolutionx, but i got almost all the other programs ill need. it should be awhile before i get my mod chip, but im sure ill need more help when i get it. so thats about it for now, thanks again

damn isnt there anyway of doing the file transfer without a modchip?
i really wanna see what kind of shit i can do to my xbox if ican just link it to my router and pc(s) i was reading somewhere u must unlock ur hard drive before u can edit it in anyway is this true?
anywayz back to hacking the dam thing is there anyway for me to transfer files without the dam m-chip? hopefully there is...also i dont mind download tons of programs

ok, I just got my mod chip and my dad is going to take my xbox to work with him and install the chip on monday. and i want to go ahead and do every thing I can to prep for it. first off how do i make the bios cd? do i just copy the xecuter bios onto a cdrw and stick it in the xbox?
