programming

hello everybody i want to get into programming and i was wondering how to go about doing that ive already downloaded python so please tell me if that was a smart move and if not then why and what would be a better route

Nobody around here seems to use python much, at least on programs they release, so if you want help or examples I would use either C#.net or VB.net. That's just if you want help off of this site, if you want to, I'm sure python will be an ok way to go, there are probably lots of examples and support sites for it.
