How do you edit the actual skins instead of just swapping shaders?

of course you don't... The extraction process produces .dds files that you edit in photoshop.

Photoshop doesn't want to open .dds files. Any details ?

I've been searching for about an hour, so don't tell me to go and look somewhere else.

well you have to have the dds plugin for photoshop. I have a link to it in my skinning tutorial on my site...

Click on the silly looking picture in my sig for your salvation.

ok, sry, but do i extract the .dds files from saving the meta of the object or skin? (if so, recursive, or not recursive?) Do you batch extract the map to get the .dds? Do you get something from bitmaps.map?
sorry, i'm a total n00b at skinning.
