W.I.P - De_dust (conversion from counter-strike)

I've started to make Dust from Counter-Strike, and I'm going to be testing certain parts of the map soon. I need a few more testers (only people that play counter-strike also please) and a modeler/skinner or two. i'll be converting a few weapons as well. so, here's what you really want, the pics!

Those are both pics of the Terrorist spawn (errr.....red team in halo). That's the first part of the map that i'm going to test. I'd like to get at least 1 new gun in with every part of the map. Also, if anybody has experience using Chimp, please contact me. in eed help.

looks good. Very promising. Just make sure to close off the tops of the walls... otherwise, you'll have a skywalking problem. (just like the original dust)

Looks nice, btw you have good choice in music. ( havent played CS that much but if i remember i played that level, was bash stong with a little river at the bottom?)

OK, now I see it.

Looks really good, even though I never played Counter-Strike :oops: . Do you have all the textures ready yet? To me thats one of the hardest parts.

ICK ya i actually just took the textures straight from the original dust, BUT they look terrible (CS isnt known for it's graphics, but it's playability). I'm on the fence right now about if im going to use Halo textures for it or Dust textures....but Halo will look better.

ya well i checked it out, the CZ textures look pretty crappy still, so i'll just do it in Halo textures. sorry this will be a slow moving project because im also working on the Metroid project...

EDIT: sorry for the double post, i was kind of bumping this topic up too....

How did u use the textures from counter strike? im making fy_dustworld and it uses the same textures as de_dust

well you download this free program called Wally. google it, it's a texture making program for quake/half-life. you open up a .wad file (.wads hold bitmaps for counter-strike), in this case, open up cs_dust.wad. in there you will find all of the textures used in de_dust, all in .bmp form.

EDIT: BTW, i would strongly recommend NOT using CS textures, they look just as bad in Halo as in CS (very blocky). And if you do use them, just remember to give credit to valve and the maker of Dust.

ya, but im trying to throw in a few weapons too, and if i go to into the CS part, especially with textures, there would be no point to playing it, you could just play CS instead.
