well, i guess thats technically(sp) possible, but it would b so amazingly hard. I dont know if you've ever looked at a skin in HMT, but it takes the 3d image of someting and makes it into a 2d pic. It divides it in a certain way depending on the pic. So, if u cud copy the design perfectly on a piece of paper then i guess u could draw on it and scan it in, but, from a practical stand point...no.

Yeah, your main jam would be in UV mapping the model, although 3Ds MAX does a great job in helping with that.

If you can export .dds files from X-Box to your computer, you could print out the texture, and then trace the edges. Then, you could scan your new drawing, make it the exact size as the original texture, and save your new texture. That way it would be the same size. You'd need a good scanner, though, for it to be really good. Good idea, though.

basically you could make it any color u want, but you couldn't change the size or shape unless you want to uvw map

It would be wicked awesome if i could figure out a way to freehand draw it, im not very good at skinning, because of how they break it into pieces, ive skinned for different games before, and believe me, you dont want to see them..... i havent tried your ideas yet though
