geting materials straight

When i apply materials to something in Max, the turn out all crooked and messed up, like each of the faces hast that particular bitmap. How do i get it so thats its one big one applied over all the faces?

You have to apply a UVM map to those surfaces! Have fun my friend because texturing is the worst part of 3d modeling!
For instance if you have bunch of horzonal floor's you select them all then allpy a UVM map, then hit align normal and select the one of the poly's this will make your textures align to that poly.
