Sandstorm

well its a map project xander, crytic, matooba, and I have been working on, and i will be postind some progress as we go, for starters, here is one weapon that was made by me, i forget where i got the referance, but it was somewhere in this forum a wile ago, anyways i added my own touches, and well here it is.

That seems like a huge step-up from before. Pretty impressive, I modeled that gun as well, though mine stayed true to the reference.

The name Sandstorm is already taken by another map, sandstorm_beta. You gonna have to find a different name, I guess.

looks like it might be crazy high poly. don't make holes in barrels. how many sides is the cylinder? can you post a triangle count and a wireframe render? looks like a lot of it is just simply too flat. i'd like to see your reference as well, please.

He loosely fitted it to that. I think he said it was like 2500 polies or somthing over msn.

pretty sick concept. however poorly execute. it seems far too flat and boxy. and for what ever reason just seems over all bland.

needs to be rounder in some areas, less random indents and extrudes.
2500 polies
we want triangles not polies. polies are completely irrelevant to gaming

i would like to see a wireframe as well.

well that referance was the only one i had, so as for roundness i kinda guessed, and honestly i kinda like the more machine boxy look, it makes it seem more uniform to me, and afterall this is my very first ever model,and i will probably be making some updates, but umm please some c&c,

oh i know he didn't. i was just stating that it's a sick concept. cause it is.
and if you have to guess, take into consideration other weapon designs and how the body interacts with the gun. holding a box for a grip while firing an assault rifle round would not be comfortable. and boxy is just ugly. guns should be smooth and sexy. not sharp, pointy and boxy.

only crit: i agree with caboose, you can leave some of the boxes, but give it some roundness so it doesn't look like one big box

Nvm... its over 10000 faces! lol. Like 1000 are wasted in the scope.

actualy that was constructive, the faces of the scope have over 700 polys so im flatening it and umm well yeah, i narrowed down so many polys after fixing the scope, but none of that matters cause im fixing alot of stuff now.
