How would some of you guys go about modeling a pirate ship? I need to make one for a project, and I don't really know how to approach it. So far my attempts have looked... not so good

Thanks for the help,
Doctor

I tried once. It sucked, but I found a tut where you use splines to get each view ports shape down, I'd have to find it again.

get blueprints make outline every curve with a spline, then draw a plane over them.

me, personally, would start from a box and extrude, chamfer, etc. 'till i achieved the look i wanted. but that's me, take it as last-minute advice.

That would achieve the look of a mangled monkey.

I havn't tried spline modeling yet, I know I could make one with plane modeling, and make it look rather good aswell.

Alright, 20 min job :/

Yea, I know it's simple, but I did just the hull thinking that'd be the part people would probably struggle the most with... I also didn't have any reference pictures, that's just what I immagined a 20 min job to look like... so I modeled it....

Nope, it is not going in game.

Also {DS} 8, I use gmax to model, I mod Halo Trail, and I use Paint.NET and gimp instead of Photoshop. >.> I am a cheap shit

I advise not buying 3ds max 9, its not really supported yet in modding, get 7 or 8.

erhm y not? and im getting 9 because its a full license studen price for 380dollars, and the full licence max 8 comes with like 5 other thins i dont want for like 800dollars, so i though its a good trade off... so thats y im geting 9.
