UPDATED IMAGES:
Finished the bolt handle. At this point, I would be satisfied calling it done, but I'll likely go back and add some other details.

1280x800 render of 2 macs.

From earlier, from new to old:
Well, i had my try at skinning my custom mac11 model. Thanks to Cooldude for the mapping (I intend to learn myself this week).
I attempted to make it look very used, battle worn. It came out pretty decent. Still, i have to add engravings and screws, and fix a couple of minor lighting issues.

Look pretty cool, especially for a first skin. The silencer looks the best I think. But although there is scratching and edge wear, it's not really very battle torn like you said. Also, I'd say on the half tube things on the side to ease up on the dodge tool, they look just a bit out of place being that shiny. If that part is supposed to be the most worn away then make the scratches a darker grey instead of just white. Course it could just be the render that makes it look like that...

It looks very nice, however it looks more like kicked-on-the-floor-worn out rather than from a battle. Excellent job though

render it with a light or two in the scene so we can see it better, it's hard to judge it right now. pretty good UVW-ing though! better than i can do .. i'm gonna have to look up some tutorials

Awesome. Looks really nice, some "battle-worn" skins overdo it, but this one seems just right.

i thought the silencer was the best as well. as for the half-tube things, in my reference it was very worn, those being worn out the most. i would have to say that they're done correctly as it's not total highlight you see there, but the metal under the protective coating which was worn away.

i'll see what i can do about that without making it too bright.
for now, here's a couple of more renders (check first post). next to be added is screws and finishing the ejection port skin.

The silencer is kinda low-poly, but otherwise it's great. Nice texturing in particular.
