This is definately the wrong forum and this is definately an easy question to answer. You physically CAN change the # of vertices, but then you WILL NOT be able to reimport the model into the map using HMT3. If you want to be able to re-import your model, just MOVE the vertices around, don't delete or add any.

u dont need to delete anything to get that gap, theres a ton of people who have done it without needing too cough*me*cough haha. i hate this cliche but still u must think outside the box, thats how u get recognized. Ill tell u this one but from now on u need to think up NEW ways to do things that no one has done before and ull be noticed ok here we go......
on that top part where the scope will be grab all the verticies in the middle for how big u want your gap to be then pull them down to be level with the top of the butt of the gun. now u shoudl have two solid things sticking up still, where the counter is and the front of the gun above the muzzle. grab some verticies near the top front of the piece that the counter is on and pull forward and connect with the front 2nd piece that u didnt move. thats how u can make that hole without deleting anything. the smg u can do to, just a little different, i did it in just few mins shouldnt be too hard on u.
