Problems with black textures at distance

Okay i reskinned the halo 2 magnum a gold colour. I got the first person and 3rd person colour to show up but when i walk away from it, it turns black. I have tried almost everything and i have search hundreds of topics and their solutions do not work. This is what I found most often and have tried so far...

generateing 8 mipmaps -DIDNT WORK
reskined the lod - DIDNT WORK

I am using paint shop pro not photoshop. But the plugin is the same for each so i dont think that makes a difference. Do i need to get a trial version of photoshop to make this work correctly? if not, what am i doing wrong? iv followed a bunch of tuts and none of them helped.[/img]

The LOD stands for Level of Detail according to how far away you are from it. If you are very far away it will do a simple texture on the weapon to make the game run smoothly, this may be why yours turns black because you said the LODs did not work correctly, I'm just guessing.

This happens with Halo PC as well. I don't know if it's the same deal with Halo 2, but in Halo PC you need to open the skin with no mipmaps showing, edit the skin, save it with it generating mipmaps, and then inject it.

i tried this and it didnt work.
